Clyde Wallace (Wally) Scott, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009 following a brief illness. Wally was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on November 19, 1927. He attended two years at the University of Texas at Austin in Engineering and one year at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls studying Horology. Wally went on to teach Horology at Midwestern University for two years and began his transition from watch and clock making and repair into jewelry sales when he began working for Kruger's Jewelers in Wichita Falls. Wally also served in the Texas National Guard in the 49th Armored Division Artillery in Wichita Falls. He received his Honorable Discharge as Sergeant First Class in 1951. During this time, Wally met the love of his life, Charlie Mae Bohannan Scott. They married on July 29, 1948 in Wichita Falls. Church and family were a big part of their lives, with both teaching Sunday school classes and singing in the choir. They moved to Austin with their daughter Sue Ann, niece Suzanne and nephews John and Bill Wilson in 1964 when Wally was transferred to Austin to run Carl Mayer Jewelers and to expand and grow the business. In 1982, Wally left Carl Mayer Jewelers to pursue his dream and opened his own store, Wallace Scott Jewelers, on Congress Avenue. After closing the store in 1989, Wally wasn't quite ready to retire and joined Joe Koen & Son Jewelers where he continued to serve his clients for several years. Wally was guided by his faith in Christ and loved to share his faith and talk about the Holy Bible. His faith and his many friendships at Trinity Baptist Church helped him tremendously after the death of his wife, Charlie, in 2007. Wally enjoyed participating in the Building Committee and was looking forward to seeing the new Church built. Wally is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Matt McKeown, grandson, Scott McKeown; his adopted children and their families, Bill and Donna Wilson, and grandson William, John and Kris Wilson, Suzanne and Logan Brown, and grandsons Joshua and Sam; his sisters and their families, Charlotte Hunt and her sons Jack and Tim Hunt, and Sylvia and Bob Edwards and their children Scott and Kristina Edwards; his cousin, Lee Scott, and his and Charlie's nieces and nephews, Nancy and Ralph Clore, Pat and Esther Byrne, Mike and Carol Byrne, and brother-in-law, Howell Byrne. We know Wally is happy to be reunited with his wife, Charlie, whom he cherished and missed daily since her death in 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents and numerous family and friends. There is a joyous reunion in God's Kingdom. Those who so desire may make contributions to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund or Christopher House/Hospice Austin. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 10:00AM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar.
