

Clyde Edward “Eddie” Steers, 66, of Austin, Texas, a retired textile and chemical factory worker, died on Thursday, October 16th, at St. David’s Hospital following complications from heart issues along with a burst aneurysm.
Clyde was born in Hinton, West Virginia, on April 9, 1959, to parents Frederick F. “Buddy” and Shirley M. Petrey Steers. Although he was born in West Virginia, he spent time all over the country, notably in Akron, Ohio; Goshen, Virginia; Los Angeles; and Chihuahua, Mexico, before finally settling down in Austin, Texas, in 2019. He was a 1977 graduate of Hinton High School and a 1985 graduate of Bluefield State College.
Clyde was a well-known storyteller who always had a story to tell and some advice to give. He was also long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton, West Virginia, before moving to Austin, Texas. In Texas, he met and made friends with everyone from pastors to musicians.
Clyde’s biggest achievement was his two daughters and granddaughter, who he loved dearly. He enjoyed music, working on wood carvings, watching YouTube and any science-fiction or fantasy movie, and spending time with his family and two grand-dogs.
Our beloved dad is survived by his two daughters, Stevie Steers and Santana Steers; his granddaughter, Valentina Gatica; his adopted son, Blake Bonds; and his son-in-law, Joseph Gatica.
Clyde also leaves behind a sister, Joann Cales; his nephew, Shawn Cales (Taylor); his niece, Seanna Ball (Jeff); his great-nieces, Bryleigh Cales and Taylynn Ball; and his great-nephews, Luke Cales and Kohen Ball along with a dear cousin named Todd Brown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deadra “Dee” Meadows Steers; his maternal grandparents, Kyle and Nellie Petrey; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Louvern Steers; his nieces, Savannah and Summer Cales; and several aunts and uncles.
Finally, he leaves behind his two grand-dogs, a Basset Hound named Boogeyman Hooker King Steers and a Schnorkel named Cobweb Death Star Steers, who were his TV and late-night snack companions.
Clyde will be having a private cremation service in Austin, Texas and will have his ashes buried at his plot at Hilltop Cemetery in Hinton, WV at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to Stevie or Santana Steers.
