

Connie Ray Connie Ruth Ray of Austin passed away on Monday, November 2, 2004. She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. Connie had been waiting for a liver transplant for four years and was an inspiration to many. Her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and gentle spirit endeared her to many friends and caregivers. Connie was born in Houston, Texas on May 17, 1954 to Gilbert and Lee McCollum. She is survived by her loving husband Travis Ray and her step-children Ryan Ray and Megan Ray. Other survivors include her parents, Gilbert and Lucille McCollum; her brother Mark and his wife Norma McCollum and brother Randy McCollum; and grandmother Connie Konstantina. Connie was loved as a daughter-in-law by Winston and Jackie Depew. She is survived by them and her sister-in-law Jackie McNulty and her nephew Gabriel McNulty. Other survivors include Jim and Katherine Ray, and Leila Ray. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Imtiaz Alam and Dr. Grady Bruce for their loving care of Connie and to the many members of First Presbyterian Church for their constant prayers and kindness, especially Susan Sanders, who provided transportation to medical appointments as well as meals and a special friendship. Visitation will be at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar on Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Connies life and resurrection will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 8001 Mesa Drive, on Friday, November 5, 2004 at 11:00 am. Graveside services will follow the service at Austin Memorial Park.
