Wife, love of his life Gloria, proceeded him in death on August 12, 2005.
Curt was born July 17, 1927 in Houston to Curtman C. and Marie (Weir) Fox. He graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 – 1947 on the aircraft carriers USS Sargent Bay, Manila Bay and the Santee achieving the rating of Electricians Mate Third Class. He served in the inactive reserve from 1947 – 1954. Curt attended the University of Houston and North Texas State University in Denton, TX. He returned to Houston where he worked for Way Engineering Co. in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration for 11 years. He married the love of his life Gloria Caldwell on December 5, 1959. He then partnered with James “Jim” Hearn in 1961 and formed Fox & Hearn Inc. in Austin, TX. In 1971 he founded Fox Service Co., Inc. where he was owner, Chairman of the Board and President until 1995. After selling the company in 1995, he accepted a 10 year employment agreement where the company still operated under his State License. Fox Service Company is still in operation today and is an icon in Austin, TX and the surrounding areas. He helped form and was a qualified supervisor in the National Environmental Balancing Bureau for over 25 years. He was President of the local Association of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers from 1968 to 1969.
He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell and attended whatever event his was invited to. He never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help anyone in need. He touched the world with his honesty, integrity and passion for excellence. He was a man people looked up to with great respect. He was an active member of the Westside Church of Christ in Georgetown, TX for many years.
In his words he left for me to add, “His Wife, Daughter and two Sons were his pride and joy.” Gloria waited on him for 9 years and now they are together which even though Curt loved being with his family and friends here on earth, he always said he couldn’t wait to be with her again.
Dad said flowers are nice or memorials may be made to The Austin American Heart Association whichever you would prefer.
