Daisy Prophet McLester passed peacefully in her home on August 6th, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on Valentine’s Day in 1932, Daisy brought warmth and love into the world from the very start — a fitting entrance for a woman who would spend her life cherished by so many.
The family moved to Texas when she was about 13 years old, and eventually settled in Rockport, Texas, where she met and married Elmer. In her youth, Daisy was crowned homecoming queen, and she carried that same grace and spirit throughout her life. She married the love of her life, Elmer McLester, in September of 1948, beginning a marriage that would last 71 beautiful years until Elmer’s passing in 2019.
Daisy and Elmer’s life together took them around the world, including 15 years spent living in the oil camps around Maracaibo, Venezuela, and in Rome, Italy, when Elmer was working for Creole Petroleum, a subsidiary of Exxon.
It was in Venezuela that Daisy discovered one of her life’s great passions, golf! An avid and competitive golfer, she earned many trophies and proudly scored a Hole in One — a highlight she cherished, among many.
They eventually settled in Austin, Texas, where Daisy and Elmer both built successful real estate careers. In addition to working for McLester & Grisham, Daisy also worked for Buffington Homes (earning Sales Counselor of the Year twice), and DR Horton, where she worked for 10 years.
Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and many family members, and more recently preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer McLester; her grandson, Lyndon Griffin; and her beloved cousin, Jeanne Sivadon Keeler Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Beam (husband Gary) and Joanie Miller; her grandchildren, Andrea, Travis, Daisy Dawn, Felicia, Cody, and Patrick; and her 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Daisy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her beauty and grace, and above all, the deep love she shared with her family for over nine decades.
