Damon Jared Goodner

Damon Jared Goodner, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on August 5, 2026 in the comfort of his home at the age of 49 years; 11 months after being diagnosed with cancer. He joins his beloved sister, Kirsten, in eternal peace.

Damon lived life on his own terms—unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and with a deep appreciation for the people and simple pleasures that made life meaningful. These characteristics are rooted in many places, but are especially grounded from his beloved Norwegian background.

Damon understood the importance of finding peace in solitude. Quiet time was not loneliness, but a chance to recharge, reflect, and be content with life as it was. He found happiness in the mundane and reminded those around him that a good life is not necessarily made up of grand occasions but of ordinary moments noticed and enjoyed.

Damon believed that friends are the family we choose and that love transcends biology. He showed up for friends, helped whenever possible, and understood that the smallest gestures often mean the most.

Damon leaves behind a legacy of authenticity, friendship, laughter, affection, and a profound appreciation for life’s everyday gifts. Those who loved him will remember his humor, loyalty, distinctive personality, and ability to make ordinary moments feel important.

In honor of Damon, may we find peace in in the quiet moments, happiness in simplicity, and the courage to be unapologetically ourselves. May we love without limits, show up for our friends, and never postpone the small joys that make life worth living.

Damon is lovingly remembered by his wife Shona, his children – Ethan, Cole, and Dean, his mother Marlene, his father David, his father-in-law Jim, his mother-in-law Pat, his brother Derek and sister-in-law April, his brother-in-law James and sister-in-law Cori, and his nieces and nephews - Adrienne, Jacob, Madeline, Kaylee, and James. In addition, he is forever in the hearts of the large community of friends that he considered his chosen family as well.

A memorial will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 from 1 – 2 pm at Redeemer Church located at 1500 West Anderson Lane Austin, TX 78757.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support Cole and Dean’s education.
