Harry Daniel Ekakiadis, 80 years old, passed away on November 1, 2021 in Austin, Texas.

Dan had a lifetime of military and federal government service, spanning over 45 years. He served in Air Force Intelligence, often recalling fond memories of his time in the military. While stationed in South Korea, Dan met and eventually married Min-Kang, and over the course of fifteen years, they had three sons together. Dan was passionate about politics, and served as a member of the City Council in Kyle, Texas. He enjoyed working with his hands, fixing cars, and doing projects around the house. His favorite pastime was spending time with his feline companions. Later in life, as grandparents do, Dan enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and giving them gifts. Throughout his life, Dan never met a stranger, and could carry a conversation with the best of them.

Dan is predeceased by his wife, Min-Kang. He is survived by his three sons, Ralph, David, and Keith, as well as his grandchildren, Chloe and Madelyn.

A visitation for Dan will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow Monday, November 8, 2021 at 4:00 PM, at Weed-Corley Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. Dan was one of the nicest people I ever met. The two of us would argue over politics like crazy - but he was always a very good listener. I so enjoyed our conversations. He cared so much about his family and his community. He will be missed very much. I send my prayers of support to his family.

I spent my whole life getting to know my Dad and I learned so much about myself from our experience together, all the way to the very end. My appreciation for my Dad grew as I matured and I realized although we were total opposites in many ways, we were identical at our core and I benefited from this understanding as it was a gift he gave me when I became able to accept it. My only regret is I wished I had more time to show my appreciation for this invaluable experience we shared. I believe God allowed us the connection we both realized before it was over as our time living together was a blessing. We truly loved each other and to be able to share this with each other, I am truly grateful. I will miss you Dad you were always on my side and I always knew this. Thank you for everything, I love you.

Dan Ekakiadis was a large man in stature, he was tall with big hands. When he walked into the room you were certainly aware of his presence. If you didn't see him walk in the room you would surely soon hear him in the room. Dan had a loud booming voice and would call you out every chance he could. He would ask you the tough questions when he could and certainly push your buttons when you let him.
Dan had a story for every conversation. His mind was strong and outlasted his big old body. He could remember people, places, and stories from all periods in his life. Whether he was telling you about his childhood or something that happened just recently or a story about a Commanding Officer when he was in the service, he would describe the situation so that you felt that you were there with him. Kerri and I knew him and will miss him as a great story teller.
