

Dan Jordan, an Austin attorney, was found dead on February 17th from an apparent heart attack. He was 53. Born on July 18, 1956, Jordan grew up in Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU in Political Science, cum laude, in 1978, and was invited to join Phi Beta Kappa. Jordan was a lifelong passionate fan of all things LSU. Jordan acquired a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Virginia in 1980. After working for the Louisiana Municipal Association, he moved to Austin in 1984 and studied law at the University of Texas, graduating with honors in 1987. He worked at the law firm of Bankston, Wright & Greenhill, before leaving to start the firm of Morehead, Jordan & Carmona in 1991. Jordan specialized in litigation and insurance law, appearing in trial and appellate courts. One of his brothers described Jordan as "Omnicompetent in everything from law to cooking, uproariously funny, gifted musically, a fiercely loyal brother, and the most reflexively giving person I've ever known." Jordan is survived by his mother, Alice West Jordan of Baton Rouge, and his brothers Dirk, an attorney in Austin, and Doug, an attorney in Alexandria, Virginia. Services will be held at the Weed Corley Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, on Friday, February 26th, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in Dan's name.
