Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arlon Whittington; sister, Lila Leaders; and son-in-law, Carl Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Whittington; sons, Keith Whittington and wife, Kelly, and Lesley Whittington and wife, Stacy; daughters, Leah Grajczyk and husband, Doug; Deborah Whittington, Ellen Whittington, Katrina Whittington and Rachel Vernon. Darrell is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and adopted daughters, Terri Perrey and Teresa Elzey.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas, officiated by Rev. Ellen Whittington and Rev. Fred Krebs.
The family has requested that donations be made in Darrell's name to Meals On Wheels.
