He was born to Ronald and Linda Riffel on June 29, 1962, in Abilene, Kansas. Darren attended Abilene Public Schools, was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served in the National Guard. He spent his adult life working in construction in the state of Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Shanda Riffel, of Austin ; daughters, Candace Loza, and Danielle Weir, both Austin; son, Joshua Riffel, of Austin; father and stepmother, Ronald and Hazel Riffel of Garden Ridge, TX; brother, Randall Riffel of Shawnee, KS; sister, Kim Decker of Wichita, KS; 6 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 4 nephews and numerous other family members.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home on Anderson Mill Road.
