David Lyle Kellogg, 82, of Austin, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2021 after battling chronic health issues. David managed his illness with strength and grace, and in his final days he was blessed to spend time with his family and friends.
David was born in Highlands, Texas to Irvin Lyle and Beulah Kellogg. He was part of big family with 7 siblings. David had a lifelong love of learning and was especially interested in math, science and history. His refuge has always been books, and he was especially proud to have written several himself.
In a college Algebra class at the University of Texas, David met Judy Roberts of Austin, TX. They fell in love, and to his surprise, Judy made the better grade. They married on December 23, 1961, and within 2 years had started a family that included Kathryn Lenore, Robert Kevin, and Carol Elaine. As a family they enjoyed camping. One of David’s greatest joys was to be a father, and he wholeheartedly loved his family. He was honored to perform the wedding of 2 of his grandchildren.
David devoted many years of service to Lockheed Martin, taught as a professor, and was instrumental in the development and creation of the Austin Kidney Foundation. He taught Sunday school class for 20 years at various churches and served as an elder emeritus at Rush Creek Christian Church and life elder at University Christian Church.
