David served in the Army/National Guard from 1959 to 1967. He was a devoted husband and a loving father. He married Nell McMillin on August 2, 1974. He worked and owned his own business as a Master Electrician and an Electrical Contractor. He was in the business for over 40 years before fully retiring at the age of 72.
He was a social, active man who was very involved in The American Legion and the Mahomet Cemetery Association for the majority of his life. He was an avid bowler and he enjoyed barbeque cook-offs and watching his favorite teams the Houston Texans and the Dallas Mavericks.
He is predeceased by his father, Wade McMillin, mother, Rose McMillin and his sister, Vicki Anderson.
David is survived by his wife, Nell McMillin; his daughters: Melissa Johnson and husband Gregg, Cynthia French, Leslie Bowers and husband Eric; his grandchildren: Shelbi Grasso and husband Jon, Maralyn-Rose Culp, Trevor Johnson and wife Shandi, Erica Palmer and husband Logan, Rebecca Johnson, Harley French, Bailey Marshall, Clayton Johnson, and Blythe Bowers and his god-daughter Stefanie Muñoz; his great-grandchildren: Jacob McMillin, Ian Cochran, Aubrey Angle, Oliver Johnson, Kaiden Angle and Bryce Johnson; his brother, Herman McMillin and wife Mary, and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His wife Nell wants to give a special thanks to Steve and Tammy Muñoz for their love, support, and friendship for over 20 years. I don’t know what I would do without the both of you.
Pallbearers will be John Maline, Mark Turek, Steve Muñoz, Gregg Johnson, Eric Bowers and Jon Grasso.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas with the interment to follow at Mahomet Cemetery in Bertram, Texas.
