Born in Amarillo, Texas then moved to Fort Worth, Texas during the first grade. Graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1953 and remained lifelong friends with many of his classmates. Attended U.T. Austin on a ROTC Naval scholarship, 1953 – 1957. Also attended TCU taking flute and other courses each summer. Graduated from U.T. Austin in 1970 with enough hours for his masters, but preferred to take a variety of unrelated courses that he just wanted to take. Worked as an Industrial Engineer from 1957 - 1976. Moving to Austin in 1966 to be Chief Industrial Engineer for Glastron Boat Co. Then changed careers and became a Real Estate Appraiser until he retired in 2008.
Survived by wife Georgia, daughter Michele and husband David Basham; grandsons Mike Shetler, Mark Shetler and Wylie Basham.
Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Covenant Pres. Church, 3003 Northland Dr., Austin, TX 78757. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church Building fund.
