Dean Scoggin

Dean Scoggin Emma Dean Bingham Scoggin was born in Aspermont, Texas in 1917 and died Monday, July 12, 2004 in Austin, Texas. She married J. Mack Scoggin on December 25, 1936, while both were students at Texas Tech University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and taught school for sixteen years, ten of which were in the Amarillo School District. She was a resident of Amarillo and a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church from 1960 to 1995. After moving to Austin to be near her daughters, she became a member of Koenig Lane Christian Church. Her children and their spouses survive her: Gay and Jim Patterson of Austin, Janey and Ron Richardson of Austin, and Gary and Pam Scoggin of Texas City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Darrell Thomas, Paul and Morgan Patterson, and John Scoggin, her great-grandchildren, Amanda Metzgar and Evan, Wesley, and Brett Patterson, and her sisters-in-law, Lou Hansen and Charlotte Nahigan. Mrs. Scoggin was preceded in death by her husband and two grandsons, Jeffrey Jones and Kelly Patterson. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 14, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Schooler-Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell, Amarillo. A graveside service will be held in Llano Cemetery on Thursday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will be held in Austin at a later date.
