

Delma Vail, a cherished mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1939, in Rosaclaire, Illinois, to Carroll and Ethel Banks. Delma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Thelma, and her beloved husband, Bob Vail, with whom she shared 39 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on March 21, 2005.
Delma is survived by her younger siblings, Ruth and Dean, and her three children: Lori Willox and her husband David, Mark Vail and his wife Joelle, and Amy Baer and her husband Joshua. The greatest joy of her life came from her seven grandchildren: Madison Willox, Jackson Vail, Victoria Willox, Luke Vail, Mikaela Baer, Noah Baer, and Sasha Baer, who brought her immense happiness.
Known for her love of food, Delma often expressed her affection through her cooking. Family gatherings were never complete without her famous noodles served over delicious mashed potatoes. And you knew it was a special day when it started with Delma's incredible cinnamon rolls that were like a warm hug with every bite.
Throughout her life, Delma was an active member in her church, serving joyfully and quietly sharing her deep and abiding faith with everyone she met. She formed many lifelong friendships at church that kept her social calendar full and her casserole dishes on the go!
Delma was also an avid card player, enjoying games like bridge and hand and foot, which brought laughter and camaraderie to her gatherings. She loved to garden and always kept her birds well fed. Every day started with a prayer and a simple cup of black coffee. She gave the sweetest hugs and the best advice.
Delma Vail will be remembered for her warm heart, culinary talents and the love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 7815 US-290, Austin, TX 78736, with graveside services to follow at 12:00pm in Cook Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
