

Demetrius Fred Loukas, Sr. died Sunday July 24th and was immediately in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Second to greet him was certainly his precious wife of 56 years, Fay Whittington Loukas. He was born October 15, 1919 in Port Arthur, Texas to Louise and Fred Loukas. He was the oldest of ten children. He had a wonderful, magical childhood and many cherished memories of sixty years in Port Arthur. He was one of the “greatest generation” that proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Gulf Oil until his retirement. The second part of his life began when he and Fay moved to Austin in 1981. Travel, grandchildren and their activities, friends, family, Longhorn sports and the love of the Lord filled their lives! Dee was a devoted and active member of Austin Baptist Church and loved his Lamplighter class. He is survived by: daughters, Diane Loukas Royall and husband Jim; Denise Loukas Stevens and husband Glenn; son Demetrius Loukas, M. D. and wife, Janis. Grandchildren: Phillip Collida, Andrea and husband Randy Lauraine, Joe Collida, Alexis Royall, Jennifer Loukas Martin, Jeff Loukas and wife Amy. Great grandchildren: Christopher Collida, Hunter Story, Allison Howard, Max Martin, McLaine Martin, Brooks Loukas and Will Loukas. He is also survived by: brother, Arthur Loukas and sisters Catherine Bazar, Janet Spann and Gladys Meyers. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock in the evening until half past seven o’clock in the evening, Monday, the 25th of July, at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar. Graveside Services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, the 26th of July at Austin Memorial Park on 2800 Hancock Drive.
