

DIANE MARIE GOODWIN Our beloved wife, mother, and friend, Diane Goodwin, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Diane was born February18, 1952 in Quebec City, Quebec. She grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and graduated from Lakehead University. Diane was a registered nurse. Diane did outpost nursing in Indian communities in northwestern Ontario after college. She took a break from nursing and traveled in Mexico and Central America where she met her husband, Guy Goodwin, in 1975. Together they traveled throughout Central and South America. In her younger years, Diane was an avid explorer and adventurer. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1978, Diane and Guy moved to Austin. Diane worked as a nurse at Brackenridge Hospital until the birth of her first son, Jeremy, in 1981. Diane was blessed with two more children, Abby born in 1984, and Brady born in 1986. Diane nurtured her children and loved them dearly. She participated in all aspects of their lives. Diane was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the North Austin Christian Womens Club of which she served as Prayer Advisor and Guide, then later, as Chairwoman. She had been a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and participated in Beth Moore Bible Studies and Precept Studies. Diane always showed her love and care for others. She loved many people and was loved by many people. Above all, Diane was a woman of faith in the Lord. Diane is survived by her husband, Guy Goodwin, as well as her children, Jeremy, Abby, and Brady, all of Austin, Texas; her mother, Margaret Gravel, and her brothers, Gerry and Ron Gravel, from Thunder Bay, Ontario; and her sister Mary Ann Merchant of Vancouver, British Columbia. Diane was pre-deceased by her father, Lucien Gravel of Thunder Bay. In addition, Diane is survived by her in-laws who cared for her like one of their own, Justine Goodwin, Betty and Mark Wangler, J.B. and Marilyn Goodwin, Sandy Goodwin, and Bobby Jenner, all of Austin, Texas; and 16 nieces and nephews. A celebration of Diane's life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, on Saturday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Diane's name to Bethany United Methodist Church.
