

Dolly was born in Hickman, Kentucky on May 24, 1926 to parents Pearl (Henshaw) and Chester Holly. Dolly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, had a great love for her family and a very strong faith in God. She worked at the Austin State Hospital and retired in 1989. She was a member of Creedmoor Union Church, Creedmoor, TX since 1978. All her life, Dolly was involved in gospel music singing in church choir and a family quartet. She passed her musical inspiration to her children.
Dolly was predeceased by husbands Ralph L. Melton, Sr. and Raymond Cronshey, grandson Jonathan Melton, great grandsons Chandler and Max Stroup. Dolly is survived by her daughter Bobbie Jean Fikes, husband Norman; daughter Grace Chamness, husband John; daughter Cecelia Melton; son Ralph L. Melton, Jr., wife Lori, daughter Miriam Teague, husband Tim and son Rodney L. Melton and wife Sharon. She is also survived by grandchildren Ralph Fikes, Morris Chamness and wife Kelly, John Chamness, Jr. and wife Patricia, Justin Chamness, Rebecca L. Bias and husband Richard, Raymond L. Melton and wife Melissa, Rhonda L. Ritchie and husband Robert, Brandon and Jeremy Melton, Jennifer Stroup and husband Mark, Heather Torres and husband Art, Joshua Melton and Christina Lopez and husband Jacob, great grandchildren Jaked and Emma Chamness, Laura and Stephanie Chamness; Duncan Chamness, Ashley L. Roberts and husband Samuel, great, great grandchildren, Kaiya, Kylie and A'vah Roberts, Kayla Melton, Arianna and Caleb Ritchie, Ethan and Emily Stroup; Emma, Lola, and Jon Rodney Torres.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 18, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78705, phone 512-452-8811. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Weed-Corley-Fish officiated by Rev. Tim Teague and Rev. John Chamness, Sr. Pallbearers are Brandon Melton, Jeremy Melton, Raymond Melton, Mark Stroup, Ralph Fikes and Rodney Melton. Burial will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX 78731.
