Dolly Moskowitz Golden passed away peacefully in her beloved Austin home, surrounded by family and friends at her bedside, on Friday, February 27th, 2026, just shy of her 95th birthday. Dolly was born in Baytown, Texas, on May 22nd, 1931, to proud parents Blanche and Joe Moskowitz. She was the youngest of four children, with siblings Alfred, Gertrude (Tootsie), and Benny.
After completing her associate's degree at Lee College in Baytown, Dolly went on to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. During her time at UT, Dolly particularly enjoyed socializing, where she met her husband of 66 years, Edwin (Eddy) Golden.
Dolly and Eddy traveled the world, visiting over 200 countries (some of which no longer exist) and all seven continents. As the proud owners of Golden World Travel, a successful travel agency in North Austin, they also led trips on cruises and excursions. Dolly was deeply involved in Temple Beth Israel and Hadassah, even serving as president of the local chapter. She and Eddy co-chaired the auction benefiting the local PBS affiliate, and they cherished attending events and concerts at Festival Hill in Round Top. No matter where they were in the world, Dolly and Eddy always made time for each other on a veranda, enjoying a cocktail and a sunset.
Dolly is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, Beth and Sarah Marsh; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Vicki Golden; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Dolly will be remembered by her family for her generous spirit as a hostess (with the mostest), her sweet giggles, which she kept until the end, and her coral pink kisses.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a charitable contribution to Dolly’s favorite non-profit, public educational 501c(3) organization “The James Dick Foundation for the Performing Arts” and please treat yourself to a beautiful experience at Festival Hill in Round Top, Texas in her memory.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home,
6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752, US, on March 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Graveside services to honor Dolly will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 11AM at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery
14501 N IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660
