

Donald Day passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. Donald was born January 6, 1947, to Sybil (Simpson) Day and George Day in Culver City, California. His family moved to Torrance, California in 1950, where he graduated from South High in 1964. He later joined the US Air Force attended Harbor and Victoria Junior College.
Donald was an accomplished master mechanic trained by US Army Corp of Engineers; where he graduated first in class and went on to serve in the US Air Force at McGrath base near Anchorage, Alaska then later in San Antonio at Brooks Air Force Base, where he met his wife Inez. In his early years, he worked for H.B. Zachary and Los Angeles Dept of Water Power, and later retiring from Pacer International where he ran West Coast Operations. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club American and Capital Falcon Club of Austin. He was also a member of Lake Hill Church, and an active participant in their Transformers Life Group.
Donald had a passion for life and a deep love for his family. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, deep sea fishing, and restoring classic cars. His most recent projects were restoring his 1964 Malibu SS and 1964 Ford Flacon Convertible. Donald was a dreamer who attained what he set out to accomplish, and his will and determination was always apparent even up until his last days on earth. He will be missed as a husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend. We are confident he has been welcomed into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father, greeted by loved ones and family that has passed on before him. The family wants to express our gratitude to all of Donald's friends and to the staff at Seton Hospital for their love, support and tender care during this difficult time.
He was preceded in death his parents and brother, Ted Day.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Inez (Johnson) Day; daughter, Donna Day; son, David Day and his wife, Yu Jin; grandchildren, Davis and Daisy Day; and twin sisters, Madelyn and Marilyn Day.
Donald’s Celebration of Life Service will be held this Saturday September 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the “Warehouse Bldg” at Lake Hills Church 11431 FM2244, Bee Cave, Texas
