Donald “Donny” Carlton Henery was born on December 12, 1946 to John Charles and Viola Cooper Henery in Dallas, Texas. He served on the USS Estes and enjoyed his time abroad traveling to Hawaii, Thailand, The Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan, which were among his favorites. Upon retiring from the Navy, he moved to Austin, Texas to be near his family. Donny worked for IBM for many years, until his first retirement. Retirement didn’t last long for Donny; he went to work for The University of Texas-Austin until his final retirement.
Donny was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan, never missing a single game and was their number one fan! He loved music and enjoyed collecting vinyl records. He also enjoyed many memorable fishing trips with his brothers, his cousin Eugene Rushing, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Thompson. Donny created so many wonderful memories during these trips and loved sharing those memories with his family. He always felt being part of a big family was a blessing.
