

Donald Anthony Oliverio, resident of Austin, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:41 p.m. on September 28, 2009.Don was born to Elizabeth and Sam Oliverio in Cleveland, Ohio on March 15, 1940 and had lived in Washington, D. C., Atlanta, Ga. and Boulder, Colorado before moving to Austin in 1997. Don is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ann; his daughter Kristi Becker and her husband, John and their son, Kai of Scottsdale, Az.; his daughter, Cheryl Blair and her husband, Tom and their children, Tommy, Taryn and Lexie of Plano, Tx. and his son, Greg Powell and his wife Deborah and their children Krystal, Taylor, Danielle, Austin and Caroline of Austin, Texas. Don is also survived by his sister, Rosie Tutag and her husband, Bob of Cordillera, Co. and brother in law, Joe Kennedy and wife Bonnie and Eddie Kennedy and wife Dorothy and mother in law, Christine Kennedy all of Groveton, Texas. Many wonderful nieces and nephews also survive him. Don was known for his kindness, generosity and love of his friends. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed. He was an incredibly loving person to his wife and his family. His laughter and compassionate heart will always be remembered. Don's life was dealt with tragedy when he was young and lost his daughter and wife to cancer, but he was able to rise up and be an incredibly positive person during the remainder of his life. Even as he faced death, his amazing attitude is a lesson for all of us to learn. His faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ carried him through to the end. Don's career begins in 1962 with IBM in sales. After a successful career there he entured into the computer start up environment where he held corporate executive positions with Storage Technology Corp. which was eventually acquired by SUN Systems, Teradata which was sold to AT&T and Hitachi Data Systems. For the last seven years Don was an angel investor in the Austin area as well as holding a partner position with ARCH Venture Partners. Don enjoyed holding several board positions with different IT companies, but held a special place in his heart for the position of Board of Director for Children's Wish Foundation granting wishes for terminally ill children. Don enjoyed playing golf at Austin Golf Club and The Hills. He had many special memories of playing golf with his friends and with Ann. Don and Ann were very fortunate to be able to travel and see the world together and play golf in many of those places. Don enjoyed a weekly Bible Study group at Austin Country Club and attending The Lakeway Church where he was a member. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway. Pallbearers will be son Greg Powell; sons in law John Becker and Tom Blair; and grandsons Taylor Powell, Tommy Blair, and Kai Becker.
