Born on August 26, 1937 in Martindale, Texas, Dora lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and a spirit of service. She poured her heart into raising her children and grandchildren, always extending warmth and compassion to everyone around her. Her home was a welcoming haven—whether for family, neighbors, or those in need. Dora also opened a daycare in her home, where neighborhood children felt loved, cared for and truly at home.
She was the beloved wife of Joe Manuel Arredondo, with whom she shared a loving marriage with a foundation of values, unwavering support and a lifetime of memories.
Dora was the proud mother of five children: Mary Esther Alvarez, Joe Arredondo, Jr. (Audra), Danny Arredondo (Angee), Dolores Arredondo (Chris) and Mark Arredondo (Tracy). She was also a joyful grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
A woman of great strength and generosity, Dora was known for her love of cooking — her kitchen was a place of comfort, where meals were always made with love and no one ever left hungry. Her recipes, like her stories, were passed down through generations, and her meals will forever remain a treasured tradition. With her dedication to faith, she served and shared her meals in the Guadalupe and San Jose Catholic Churches.
She had a gift for storytelling, often sharing heartfelt and humorous tales from her childhood and the early days of raising her family. Her stories were lessons in love, perseverance, and the importance of holding each other close.
Dora worked tirelessly throughout her life — not just in the home, but in every endeavor she pursued. She was the kind of person others turned to for comfort, advice, and support — always ready to help, to listen, or simply sit beside you with a warm smile.
Her legacy is one of unconditional love, deep faith, and selfless service. Dora leaves behind a family knit together by the values she lived every day — compassion, hard work, and devotion to one another.
Though she is gone from our sight, Dora will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
