Doris Lundgren Fisher, 85, most beloved by her family, lost her long battle with Alzheimers Disease the morning of July 27, 2005. Born in an April snow storm on a farm near Lostwood, North Dakota, she left for Los Angeles at the age of 21. There she met her destiny in James Howard Fisher. They married six months later in Las Vegas on the 4th of July. The warmth and love in their relationship radiated to all they knew. Together 64 years and 3 weeks, they raised two loving and loved children. As the wife of the Air Force pilot that her husband became, Doris lived all over the United States; and after she retired from the Texas Youth Council, they traveled extensively abroad. As a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church of Austin, she was active in Daughters of the King. Doriss sweet nature and sense of humor survived even the ravages of Alzheimers. She will be missed beyond description. Doris and her husband, Jimmy, long-time residents of Austin, lived in Bastrop in recent years. In addition to her husband, James Howard Fisher, she is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay, and her husband, Richard Cressen, of New York City, and by her son, James Harold and his wife, Lisa Dawn-Fisher, of Elgin; by her grandchildren, Emily Dawn Robinson and James Elliot Robinson; and her great-grandson, Dominique Robinson. Doris is also survived by her sister, Mable Venable, of Bellflower, California. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 31, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, at St. Albans Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a contribution to the National Alzheimers Association at 919 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611.
