Dorothy Bibbs was born in Manor, Texas, the oldest of four siblings to Johnnie Mae Brown. At the age of 13 she moved to Austin, Tx and attended L.C. Anderson High School. After graduation she attended cooking school and went to work at UT as a food service worker.
Her manager Ken Odeon saw the leadership potential in her work and made her supervisor and his right hand person. She later went to work for St. Edward's University as a Food Service Director. The brothers during her tenure only wanted her to be in charge of their food. Her last job with Gabrielle Bekink started part time in 1976 until the passing of her daughter Crystal. She came on full time and worked in various capacities until she retired in 2012. They were best of friends. And she was treated like family by Mrs Bekink and sons Blake and Alex. She was a member of Webberville Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir. Her awesome green thumb and passion for gardening and the feel of soil between her hands was soothing to her, but could not stand weeds, she would pull them with a vengeance. Her love for music was evident with her record collection and piano. She loved to take pictures and was a snazzy dresser. She was one of co founder's of the women's social group "The Royalettes" which was for Ladies of Distinction which held Fundraisers and Civic Events.
She leaves a host of family and friends to rejoice her home going.
