

Dorothy Elaine Clark, age 66 of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by love ones Thursday January 21, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Dorothy or “Dee” was born in Taylor, Texas on May 21, 1949 and was the oldest of seven children.
She is preceded in death by her Father Charles Holden and brother Charles Holden, Jr. As the child of a member of the United States Army, Dee and the rest of her siblings traveled extensively, living in Texas, Germany and Louisiana. Dee graduated from Frankford American High School in Frankford, Germany. She later attended college at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, where she studied nursing. Dee also served her country as she joined the United States Army. However, Dee made Austin, Texas her home, as she retired from AT&T after a successful career spanning 30 years. In addition, Dee also worked for New York Life Insurance for over eight years.
Dee accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church and worked with the after school program for children. She was passionate about her love for her son, Daren Clark, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members. Dee was also very creative with thread and fabric and loved to crochet for her family.
Dee is survived by her mother, Anne Byers, son Daren Clark, her siblings Patricia Handcox, Glenn Holden, Edward Holden, Danny Holden, and Aaron Holden, grandchildren Ashley Clark and Daren Clark Jr. and great grandchildren Brandon Henry, Beautieful Henry and Brooklynn Henry and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar in Austin Texas from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Cook Walden Funeral Home in Austin. Dee will be laid to rest immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery in Austin.
