

Mrs. Gibbs graduated from Tyler High School. Dorothy married Rex Gibbs of Flint, Texas in Tyler, Texas on June 15, 1951. She raised her three children and did not start working until her children left home. She worked at Ultimate Home Health in Port Arthur, Texas and worked in the office of Dr. Fenwick L. Watts in Port Arthur, Texas. She worked as a caregiver at St. John’s United Methodist Church in the daycare center.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Rex Gibbs; brother, Joe House, and her parents, Fred and Jewel House. She is survived by her son, Forrest Gibbs and wife, Michelle of Lantana, Texas, daughters, Rexanne G. Meaux and husband, Steve of Wimberly, Texas, Carol G. Pepper of Austin, Texas, sister Thelma Hogue and husband, Walter Hogue of Lindale, Texas and brother, Delma House of College Station, Texas, and five grandchildren: Justin Meaux of Austin, Texas, Maxwell Pepper of Austin, Texas, Spencer Pepper of Bryan, Texas, and Erica and Marisa Gibbs of Lantana, Texas.
Dorothy was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael A. Romain of Austin Diagnosic Clinic and Dr. Robert J. Wozniak of Cardiovascular Specialist for the wonderful care they gave to Mrs. Gibbs. The family would also like to thank the staffs of Park Valley Inn and North Austin Medical Center for their kindness.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 2nd of May 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Graveside services will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 3rd of May 2014, at New Harmony Cemetery, near Tyler, Texas, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
