Dorothy Boyd Goddard (Dorothy Jean Boyd, Mimi), age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Austin, Texas, on October 6, 2026. She was born in Waco, Texas, to her loving parents C.E. and Mattie Boyd. Dorothy graduated from Ingleside High School in Ingleside, Texas, and attended Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. She later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where she met and married John Rodney Goddard II on February 25, 1949. After brief stints in Corpus Christi, Hartford, Connecticut, Austin, and Dallas, the couple eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas. It was there that they spent most of their married life, raised their family, and made lifelong friends.
Dorothy will be remembered for her keen sense of humor and joyful spirit. Her passions were traveling, University of Texas and Dallas Cowboys football, gardening, Bridge and Canasta, and most importantly spending time with family and lifelong friends. Her travels took her to Europe with her true love of all things English. In fact, one of her great-grandchildren mistakenly thought she was the Queen of England due to their similar hair color and style—a misconception Mimi never corrected. When home, Dorothy could frequently be heard yelling at the television, passionately cheering on her favorite sport teams or found puttering around in her flower beds. She was an active and dedicated member of the Northwest Cosmopolitan Club (Cosmo-Pals), THOGs, and The Holly Garden Club.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Rodney Goddard II, her brother Billy Boyd, and her sister-in-law JoAnn Boyd. She is survived by her son, John Chalmers Goddard (Chad), her daughter, Julie Goddard Coles, and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen R. Goddard. While she loved her children deeply, her grandchildren were where her heart truly belonged. She is survived by her grandchildren: Kelsey Goddard Warden and her husband Cameron, Jonathan Ramlow and his wife Bretta, Zachary Boyd Coles, and Alex Blake Coles; and her great-grandchildren, Reese Caroline Warden, and Hallie Goddard (HG) Warden.
She is also survived by her nephew Mike Boyd, and his wife Laurinda, and her niece Sara Tolvanen, and her husband Charlie.
Dorothy was blessed with a wonderful long life full of fun, laughter, and travel. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family will hold a private burial at Mission Park North Cemetery. To all, please join us on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, for a Fiesta of Life at 1:30 pm at Hacienda De Los Barrios (18747 Redland Dr., San Antonio, Texas).
