

Dorothy was born August 28, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Paul Houdesheldt and Mary McBride.
She graduated high school in 1959 from Des Moines Tech, and married Phillip McCammon in February, 1960. They raised two children Phillip McCammon and Allyssa McCammon.
Thru the late 60’s into the early 70’s she also took in 7 foster children while they were being permanently placed.
She also was the Assistant Secretary to president of the Des Moines Woman’s Club from 1967 to 1973.
Dorothy married again in 1973 to Charles Grimm and her and the family moved to San Diego, California. In 1980 the family moved again settling in Austin, Texas where she and her husband opened a paint and hardware store along with a contracting company.
For the last 20 years Dorothy ran her business remodeling nursing homes around the Austin area, making people’s final homes a beautiful place to be. Her sharp wit and drive for excellence gave her the edge needed to succeed in her profession of perfection.
She is survived by her son, Phillip McCammon, and his wife, Debra McCammon; Daughter, Allyssa Juby and her husband, Cary Juby; Grandchildren, Phillip McCammon, Cory Juby, Jennifer McCammon, Ashlan Juby , Jeffery McCammon, Colton Juby, Brittany McCammon.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 12th of July 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
The family wants to thank all of Dorothy’s friends and work associates who stood by her in Austin all these years. Helped her in times of tribulation and laughed with her in times of joy. She had expressed her deepest satisfaction and pleasure with having had the opportunity to help others better themselves through hard work, perseverance and at the end of the day A JOB WELL DONE.
