

Dorothy Eunice Pollard Johnston died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at her daughter's home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Walfred Johnston; parents, H. G. and Allie Pollard; brother, H. G. Pollard, Jr. She is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Johnston and Phyllis Woodworth of Austin, Texas, Diana Council of Stephenville, Texas and two grandchildren, Diana and John Woodworth. Dorothy was born in Rocky, Arkansas on March 27, 1920. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in English. While at university, she met and married her husband of 58 years, Richard. They made their home in Austin and Stephenville respectively. Dorothy was a devoted Presbyterian her entire adult life. She served as youth and group leader, Elder and president of Presbyterian Women. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years while in Austin. She also taught at University Junior High in Austin, Texas for several years. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, known for her compassion, her leadership and service to others. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Stephenville, Texas on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 3:00 pm with Reverend Dr. Sharon L. Bryant officiating. The family would like to thank Nancy Burger, Austin Hospice, Chaplain Sarah Bentley, Chaplain Kevin Jones and Brent Bennett, MD for their loving care of our mother.
