Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Vicki Mayberry Aycock; his children and grandchildren: Christine Schooler (partner Reeves Ham; children Rebecca and Luke), Steven Aycock (spouse Malia; children Loula and Eloise “Bo”), Haley Langley (spouse Clinton; daughter Ada), and Lisa Jo Harrison (spouse Charles; children Ella Jo and Erin); and his brother Steven Leslie Aycock (wife Cheryl) and their family.
Raised in San Antonio, Doug graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1966 and earned a B.A. in Business from The University of Texas at Austin in 1970, where he made his lifelong home. He built a distinguished career in financial services, earning his CLU and ChFC designations and spending many years with New England Life as a trusted advisor and mentor.
Doug was deeply involved in his profession and community, serving in leadership roles with the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). In 2009, NAIFA named Doug as the recipient of the Tall Texan Award, celebrating his outstanding leadership, dedication, and impact within the financial advisory industry. Doug also served on the boards of other well-known Austin organizations, including the West Austin Youth Association, Austin Junior Chamber (Jaycees) Toastmasters, Capital City Village, and Tarrytown United Methodist Church.
Above all, Doug treasured his family. Known lovingly as “Poppy,” he delighted in time with his seven grandchildren and in a home filled with friends, laughter, and love.
The family extends sincere thanks to the caregivers at St. David’s Hospital and to Tarrytown United Methodist Church for their compassion and support.
Please join us to celebrate Doug’s life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Tarrytown United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
