
I am so so sorry for your loss just found out 



Doug always made everyone feel welcome and special.  I maved to Austin in my junior year and he reached out to the new kid and was always friendly and kind.



Wow. I am at a loss for words. I am so saddened to hear about his passing. I knew Doug from the Great Earth Vitamin stores since back about 15+ years. Patrick and Alicia, I am truly sorry. Kathy, I can not imagine loosing a spouse. Doug was so wonderful at always helping me with nutrition. All are in my prayers. 



I knew Doug from the Suburban Alcoholic Foundation.  I am relatively new to the program and Doug had over 29 years of sobriety.  He helped me tremendously as I struggled to share AA's message with others in need.  I did not realize until his death that he probably knew he was sick while he was helping me.  He was not thinking of himself, but focused only on others.

I remember Doug teaching me that each person's potential is much greater than their self imposed limitations.  He was speaking of physical limitations at the time, but I realized he was also teaching me a life lesson as well.

I only knew Doug a short time, but I will miss him dearly and will pass on what he taught me to others to the best of my ability.

Doug was one of the best managers and friends that I have ever met. Doug was and still is an amazing person and I couldn't thank him enough for the opportunities he gave me. For that I am  ever grateful. Thank you Doug and may you rest in peace.

Doug has been helping me train to increase my flexibility and strength since summer 2011.  I have severe arthritis and he helped work out through my pain and stiffness tremendously giving me much needed relief.  He was always such a breathe of fresh air and just plain nice to all around him.  I will miss spending time with him.  Thank you Doug.  You made a positive difference in my life and many others I am sure of that.  God bless you and your family.

It has been many years since I've had Doug in my life.  We worked as a team together at Great Earth Vitamins for 5 years.  In those years we both grew together and learned to trust and question each other.  The Dozier family took a gamble on me and I was the better, wiser for it.   Seeing his smiling face brings to mind many cherished and challenging conversations we shared.  He is a part of my history and he will be missed. We are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Lacey remembers him as an "awesome basketball coach."  We remember that he was working full-time and still found time to coach basketball. He had a love for the sport and for coaching it.  He was patient and dedicated. We really appreciated the great man that he was. Our condolences to the family.



Although I didn't know Doug for very long, he was such a delightful man.  Always a quick smile and a impish sense of humor at the ready.  My deepest condolences to the family.  Doug will be missed by all of us.

My deepest condolences to the Dozier family, who I was thankful to meet last night at his visitation.  Despite his recent cancer diagnosis, I was shocked to hear of his passing.  

Doug had been my trainer and had become my friend over the last year.  He got me all shaped up for my wedding, and afterwards I kept going just to see him every week.  I would walk in to the gym stressed out from work and Doug would ask how things were going.  No matter the answer, he'd tell me that we were going to work out and it would be better.  Over the year I came to know what an amazing person he was from stories about his family, his struggles with alcohol in the past, and about his work and businesses.  I always had the feeling that he felt as if this part of his life was a bonus after his struggles and it was reflected in the joy and laughter of his life now.  

We talked about his illness weekly and he would sometimes ask me for advice as he knew I was an MD. I admired his positivity in the face of his new challenge.  One day he said that he was "jazzed" because he had learned new tools to deal with what was ahead.  And then, he said if those tools didn't help, he'd find something else to be "jazzed" about.  

I will truly miss him.

I got a tearful call first thing this morning from my daughter Melissa telling me of Doug's passing. Her first comment to me was that Doug was like a Dad to her, willing to take the time to listen and offer sound fatherly advice. Doug's dedication and time commitment to coaching girl's basketball while operating a full-time business is parallel to none. He taught my daughter and others about integrity and morality and was highly respected and esteemed by all.

Doug will be missed but the fond memories will linger on for our lifetime as we continue to celebrate his life on earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.



I am so saddened to hear of Doug's passing.  I loved talking and laughing with him during my strength training class.  I can't believe he won't be there to high five me.  He was just a great guy!  My thoughts and prayers are with Kathy and his family.  He will be missed!

I had been working out with Doug for only about 6 weeks but had been communicating with him about the Super Slow training he did since I learned I was moving to Austin back in July. Doug was obviously someone who cared about the people he touched. I had already grown to care for him and appreciate his work with me. It's funny how at times we have bonds with people and God brings them to us for reasons we'll never know. Doug was one of those people for me. 

I'm very sad to lose him - and so, so sad for his family. He was hopeful that his physical recovery would be as successful as his spiritual recovery and journey has been and I wished that and was hopeful for him.

To his wife and family....much love and many prayers from someone who doesn't know you but shares your hearts and the life of recovery you've shared with Doug. I know for sure that Doug's God is cradling him in his safe arms tonight.






Doug was always so warm and friendly to us.  His cheerful countenance will be missed.  May the good Lord hold you close during this difficult time.  



I'm so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We had several classes together at Lanier High School and I always remember his kindness and friendliness. I had hoped to catch up with him at our last reunion, but he didn't make it. My condolences to his family and close friends.



We met Doug through our strength trainer, Timothy Parravano.  We loved talking to Doug.  He was so enthusiastic and we shared an interest in all things sports.  He even accepted our Aggieness!  We learned a lot about basketball officiating from Doug.  He was truly passionate about the game and his participation in it.  We loved talking with him about anything!  He followed Timothy around while he worked us out during his training time at Kelly Personal Training.  Then when Timothy was away, we worked out with Doug and he gave us a great workout.  We are shocked and saddened by his passing, and though we didn't know him for long, we saw him as a very special person that came into our lives and we were blessed to know him.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.  He will surely be missed!

I first met Doug when he was working at Austaco and even tough I didn't see him alot he did strike me as a man that really enjoyed his life and always had a smile. I pray for comfort & peace at this time for all the family,especially when this loss seems to have come at such a youg age, but know he is in good hands now!!!

I didn't know Doug for a very long time but he made a very big impression on me and others at the gym with his incredible warmth, kindness, hilarious and spicy sense of humor.  I am so sorry for his sweet family and I hope they get all the love and comfort they need right now.  He loved you guys so much and talked about all of you often.  If there is a such thing as a living angel, that was Doug, no doubt about it.  I will SO miss his sweet smile and wonderful stories.

Doug was one of the first people to welcome me to Lanier High School when I moved here in my 9th grade year.  He was always kind.  I remember him practicing his dribbling wearing  gloves with the fingers cut out; he was pretty dang good.  We crossed paths several times over the years and he was always genuine with a smile and a greeting.  R.I.P. Doug. 

I also got to know and admire his brother Jay on a youth ski trip.  Thinking about Jay and his brothers, as well as the rest of Doug's family.



Although I knew  Doug for only a few months,  I felt I'd known him a long time as soon as we met because he was such a warm, open and caring person. His wonderful positive attitude, optimism and courage as he faced his illness and treatment were so inspiring.  I will remember him, always smiling and encouraging, and send my heartfelt sympathy to his family who he frequently talked about with great love and affection.



Our deepest sympathies to the family. We will miss seeing Doug in his signature bucket hat ,taking marathon length walks through the neighborhood , running backward sprints and shooting hoops in the cove and always with a smile on his face. Rest in peace. 



I met Doug a little over a year ago when I was training for my first marathon.  I immediately connected with Doug because he shared with me that he'd been sober for over 20 years. I have family members who have struggled with addiction and  Doug was an inspiration to me and he gave me hope.  He was one of the kindest men I'd ever met and I always looked forward to our weekly appointments.  I will never forget Doug's smile or how he loved the color lime green.  He we will be dearly missed.



So sorry to hear this news. We will miss his smile, wave, friendliness, and basketball in our neighborhood.  May God's love surround him and may he be at peace.  We pray for peace and comfort for his family, too.

I knew Doug for several years and had the privilege of assigning his basketball games with the South Texas Chapter. In my 15 years of service to the chapter, I was floored at the professionalism, passion and joy that he displayed with each assignment given to him. He was one who never complained and gave his all every time he hit the floor to work a game. My heart hurts today but i also joy knowing he did everything to the fullest and his memory will serve as motivation to myself and others for he did things the right way! RIP my good friend and I joy knowing your in a much better place!

Doug and I became friends a few years ago when, with both of us stuck somewhere with thousand yard stares, our eyes crossed paths and we talked. Lo and Behold we had both lost our little girls to that thing called growing up, moving on; good women both. We shared Daddy tears, gratitude and later even a sponsie or two. My heartfelt love to his family, his girls...
