

After high school graduation he attended St Cloud State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, and then began his long career in sales. His creative gift ideas brought new products to the marketplace and several were distributed with great success. His last employment, from which he retired in 2004, was with Rubatex Corp.
He was a member of St. Ignatius, Martyr Catholic Church and a summer parishioner at the Church of St. Philip, Litchfield, Minnesota. Doug enjoyed life doing simple things: golf, hunting, fishing, reading, and mostly loving and enjoying his family and friends, with whom he shared his incredible sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Jim Ham. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sheila Quinn Ham; son David and Melissa Ham and daughters Kristen Ham and Laura and Adam Griebel; beloved grandchildren, Courtney, James and Sophia Ham and Madeleine Griebel; brothers Darrell and Carol, Greg and Chris, sister Barbara and Virgil Jelsma, and 6 loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20th 2:00 pm at St. Ignatius, Martyr Catholic Church, 126 W. Oltorf, Austin, Texas. Interment of his ashes will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield, Minnesota at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Ignatius Food Pantry or Goodwill Central Texas.
