Doyle H. Moore, born December 25, 1928, in Catarina, Texas passed away peacefully, Saturday July 16, 2005, in his Westlake Hills home after a 4-year battle with cancer. Doyle grew up in Austin, attended Austin High and went on to play football on a 4-year scholarship at Texas A&M. After graduating in 1951 he served in the Air Force as a First Lieutenant .Doyle is survived by his loving wife Colleen, dear daughter Sherry and her husband Jack L. Waldrop, son Dr. Frosty Moore and his wife Pam, son Robin Moore and his much loved grandchildren Tracy, Brian and Michael Waldrop, Grayson , Dustin, Chance and Dalton Moore, Shannon Burl, Randy, Triston and Hunter Moore. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Hospice Austin, all of Doyles attending physicians and caregivers In 1967, Doyle established the Austin branch of Owens Corning Fiberglass, where he worked as a Superintendent and contractor, from which he retired in 1987. During that time, and for several years, he served as the President of the Asbestos Union. As a reputable icon of Westlake Hills, he was a member of Westlake Presbyterian Church for 50 years. He also served on the Westlake Hills Planning and Zoning Committee and subsequently was a Westlake Deputy. He was the proud President of the Western Hills Optimist Club for many years, where he coached Little League, Pony League, and Football. He was a charter member, President, and organizer of the Western Hills Optimist Club. Thus, he started the Little League program in Westlake and Rollingwood by building a park on Rollingwood Drive. In 1972, Doyles football team won the State championship. Doyle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a good shot and livened up many gatherings. He valued spending quality time with family and friends and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildrens sports activities. He was a member of the Ben Hur Shrine , the Texas A&M Lettermans Association, the Austin Assembly and enjoyed The Dance Club and Liz Carpenters GBATTs(Getting Better All the Time Singers), where he sang and played the harmonica. Doyle was a fun-loving man whose passion has always been the outdoors. He became an accomplished rancher raising Red Brangus cattle, each of which he named and loved dearly. Many rainy nights he could be found searching for that calf and he would never give up until he found it. He has always been an animal lover and graciously has shared that with all of his family. Doyle had a positive influence on everyone that knew and loved him. His presence will be greatly missed, but he will not be forgotten. It was Doyles dream to build more Little League fields, as he had done with other founders of Western Hills Optimists in the 1960s. A fund has been started to build new fields in the Westbank. A donation in lieu of flowers, for future Little League fields in western hills is what he would want. The torch will continue for the youth of Travis County through the trustees he named to build these fields.
