Earl Anthony Huger came into our world on July 31, 1940, in Charleston, South Carolina. He left this earthly life peacefully surrounded by loved ones and family at his home in Austin, Texas on April 1, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Earl was born to Rosalie Huger and Jim Deas. He had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He was educated in the Charleston County school system, graduating from Burke High School in 1958. He then entered the United States Air Force on September 24, 1958, where he would serve a long and honored career. After completing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Earl would rise to the rank of Master Sergeant and serve in variety of fields across the world including Keesler AFB, Mississippi, Chateaurox, France, George AFB, California, Sembach Air Base, Germany, McGuire AFB, New Jersey, Johnson Atoll in the North Pacific, Altus AFB, Oklahoma, Spangdalem AFB, Germany, and completing his final assignment at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas in 1982. Throughout his career, Earl completed technical training as an Electronics Flight Facilities equipment repairman, repair, service, and maintenance of Navigation Aids, mobile communications service, and maintenance and repair of navigation and other vital communications equipment. Upon completion of his last assignment, Msgt Huger was recognized for his daily dedication to duty, expert management, and strong leadership skills. The Air Force Commendation Medal and Combat Readiness Medal with one oak leaf cluster are among MSgt Huger's awards and decorations. He was also awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with four oak leaf Clusters, the NCO Professional Military Graduation Ribbon, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Earl was married to the former Ginette Sieffermann of Strasbourg, Germany. Throughout the years Earl displayed a compassionate, loving, and caring personality toward others and a loving heart of gold. He was a faithful member of the Japanese Church of Austin.
Earl is preceded in death by his brothers James Deas, Sampson Huger, Johnnie Huger, and Oliver Green; and sister, Mary Agnes Wright. He leaves to always cherish his memory his sister, Christina Johnson (husband, Clifford); nieces, Evelyn Deas, Debra Wright Blake, and Suzanne Wright; grandnieces, Yolanda Wright, Nikey Jordan (husband, Darrell), Shannon Blake-Lynch (husband, John), and Teasha Fleming )husband, Shon); special cousin, LaVone Grippon; nephews, Harold Deas; and grand-nephews, Joshua Wright, Anthony Bailey, Joseph S. Bailey, and Michael Bryant (wife Sheila).
A visitation for Earl will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral H, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A graveside will occur Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
