Edgar Sanders Daugherty

Edgar Sanders Daugherty (Ed, Honey, Opa) Ed was born in Cameron, Texas on June 1, 1917 to Zuella and W. J. Daugherty. He died on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Austin, Texas at the age of 90. Ed was predeceased by his siblings, Willard “W.J.” (Dub) Daugherty, Thelma Stone and C.H. (Chick) Daugherty. Ed was a wonderful family man, a romantic and loving husband, an affectionate father, a fun loving and adventuresome grandfather and a kindly great-grandfather. He jump-started his children in business and built the little community of Edville, Texas. Ed and his beloved wife Margie shared 57 years of a very special love. They enjoyed traveling the world, many good friends, family celebrations and numerous gatherings at the family ranch in Driftwood. Many good times were had at a “Daugherty Party”. Ed leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by his many friends, family and especially his grandchildren. “Opa” was the grandfather every child dreamed of having. The silly songs he created, the funny faces he made, the crazy hats he wore, the toys he built and the love he shared will always be remembered. Ed will be dearly missed by his wife Margie, his son Randy Daugherty and wife Judy, his daughter Candy McWilliams, his grandchildren Brandi Daugherty; Wes Daugherty and wife Casi; Ripley McWilliams and wife Ginger; Jennifer Berger and husband Jeff; Austin McWilliams; Amanda Daugherty and five wonderful great-grandchildren - Zoe, Cole, Garrett, Jack and Connelley as well as a host of friends. The family will receive visitors on Friday evening, October 19th from 6:00-7:30 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish. Graveside services will be held on Saturday October 20th at 11 a.m. at Austin Memorial Park (Hancock Drive) with the six grandchildren: Brandi, Wes, Ripley, Jennifer, Austin and Amanda acting as honorary pallbearers.
