Edith “Keyko” Holland passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at Kirkwood Manor Nursing Center in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born on February 23, 1940, in Austin, Texas to parents Clyde and Ruby Dee Crooks. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and was the heart of our family. Our loss cannot be measured in words.
She is survived by her children Yolanda Hinkley, Charles Hinkley, and Andrea Hester, brother Travis Crooks, and multiple extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by husband Eugene Holland, daughters Shauna Jacobson and Sandie Bender, grandchildren Sterling Bender and Alexandrea Bender, sisters Katherine Cleveland and Willowease Whitwell and brother Clyde Crooks.
Edith was truly one of a kind. She had an amazing sense of humor. She loved her family deeply and was always in our corner when it counted. She was a country & western singer as a young adult and said the happiest time in her life was performing on stage with her family band in Austin, Texas. She had a green thumb and was especially fond of roses, gardenias, and magnolias. She faced many adversities throughout her long life, and in her later years struggled with ever increasing health challenges. However, her spirit and strength remained unwavering, to the end of her days.
She is at peace. She is at rest. She is with Christ, and there is no more pain.
