Lee was born January 16, 1925 near the town of Edwardsville, Illinois. She was the first of three girls in the family of Elmer and Edna Doerper Bohm, prominent members of the farming and business communities in Madison County, Ill. She attended elementary school in a one-room school house which stills stands on the Bohm farm and subsequently graduated from Edwardsville High School. She entered MacMurry College for women in Jacksonville, Illinois and after one year transferred to Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, L.A. She graduated with a B.S. degree in 1944. Following college, she worked as a medical technician in Lake Charles, L.A. , where she met her husband-to–be who was then an Air Force Lieutenant stationed at Lake Charles Air Force Base. They were married in Maui, Hawaii in 1947.
Lee served more than twenty seven years as an Air Force wife with her husband during his military career. She raised one son and three daughters during the transitory period of military life. Following Colonel Dorman’s retirement, all of the children completed college and settled in the Austin area. Lee’s active life with the military was continued by her participation in social and civic functions in the civilian community. She had many close friends, and her passing will be sorrowfully felt by all. She is survived by her four children, Mark Dorman, Maureen Marcum, Valerie Morris and Debora Renfro, as well as five grandchildren, Lindsey Adamoski, Bobbie Renfro, Robert Renfro, Diana Morris and Melissa Foster.
Funeral arrangements are handled by Cook- Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. A graveside service for Lee will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
