Edna Josephine Olson Matson

Edna Josephine Olson Matson “Olie” Edna Josephine Olson Matson was born on June 19, 1907 in Sheridan, Wisconsin and died on May 11, 2004 in Austin, Texas. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Miles A. Matson; sister, Ethel Guyant of Amherst, Wisconsin; and several special nieces and nephews. Brothers, Oscar and Gerhard and sisters, Ora and Carol June predeceased her. Edna was a 1926 graduate of Waupaca High School in Wisconsin. She graduated in 1929 from Bellin Memorial Nursing School, Green Bay, Wisconsin, as a Registered Nurse. She did graduate work in Orthopedics at New York Orthopedic Hospital, New York City. Her nursing included; private duty nursing in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Head nurse position at Waupaca Hospital in Wisconsin, and Children’s Country Home, Westfield, N.J. She was an RN for various doctors in Austin, Texas. She was an avid gardener, a superb cook, a promoter of physical exercise and fitness, and loved ballroom dancing. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 14, 2004 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Texas SPCA, 909 S.
