
Edward W. Cundiff, father and emeritus professor, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday November 7, 2006. He was eighty seven years old. He is survived by his three sons: Richard, Gregory, and Geoffrey Cundiff and their families including five grandchildren. He lost wife of fifty years, Peggy, in January of this year. He was a pioneer in the fields of Marketing and later, International Marketing. During a twenty year tenure as a professor at the University of Texas at Austin he served as the Chairman of the Department of Marketing in the School of Business Administration and as Editor of the Journal of the American Marketing Association. He held the Kellstadt Endowed Chair in Marketing at Emory University and taught there for ten years. He then returned to Austin and to the University of Texas to serve as chairman of the Advertising Department in the School of Communications for another seven years. He retired at the age of seventy six. He was an adoring husband, a World War II veteran, an avid traveler, and a prolific author. He served as a mentor to many and a friend to all. His tireless enthusiasm and unwavering faith in humanity will remain an inspiration to those who knew him.
