Edward M. Franz passed away on October 21, 2007 after a 2 ½ year battle with lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel J. Franz. Ed worked as a Building Engineer for over 20 years in Austin. He loved playing the guitar. He was a cartoonist. He loved reading history and politics. Ed was a friend to all, always willing to help. He had a heart of gold. Ed is survived by his parents, Marie and Larry Franz of Syracuse, New York; brothers and sisters, Steve and Linda (Jennifer and Andrew), Joe and Carol (Veronica and Bridget), Larry and Vicky (Eric & Michelle), Kathy and Benny (Alan and Kris), Matt and Patti (Zachary and Joshua) Jim and Karen. Eds family would like to thank all his friends and extended family for all their love and support during this difficult time of his life. Also a special thanks to Dr. Myers and his staff at the South Austin Cancer Center, along with all other healthcare providers that Ed had come in contact with. Memorial service will be held from 6:00 pm 9:00 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at his residence.
