

Edward was born July 19, 1930, in his home in Marlin, Texas to Dr. Thomas G. Glass and Dorothy Marshall Glass. In 1954 he married his beloved wife, Carol Harter, also of Marlin, Texas. In 1951 he joined the United States Air Force where he piloted F-86D Sabre jets. He attended The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a B.B.A. in 1958, graduating with honors. He was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Edward began his career with Travelers Insurance and later worked for Merrill Lynch as a stock broker and manager in San Antonio and Wichita Falls, respectively. He returned with his family to San Antonio to work as a portfolio manager for Midland Investment Company before eventually opening his own investment business, Glass Management Company. He and Carol retired to Horseshoe Bay, Texas, where they spent 20 years together enjoying the small town feel they were accustomed to in their childhood. In 2013 they relocated to Austin, Texas to be closer to their family.
He is survived by wife, Carol H. Glass; daughter Ann Glass Rinehart; son William Edward Glass; grandsons Johnson M. Rinehart and Jeffrey E. Rinehart; twin sister Dorothy Glass Robbins; and other close friends and family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on N Lamar Blvd in Austin, Texas. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 10:00am at St. David's Episcopal Church on E 8th Street in Austin, Texas. Graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at the Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas.
