

Edward F Guerra, 68, born in San Antonio on September 2, 1944, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2013 after a long battle with the many complications of diabetes. He was surrounded by his wife Nancy and sisters-in-law Patricia Beverage and Gail Ensey during his final moments. Ed will be missed by his loving family members, friends and colleagues.
Blind since birth, Ed attended the Texas School for the Blind. He learned piano tuning there at the age of 13 and started the career that he loved so much. After 5 years of teaching piano tuning at TSBVI, Ed spent 15 years as a piano technician at the University of Texas School of Music. Many private customers valued his expert skills in tuning and repairing their pianos. Ed was a Registered Piano Technician in the Piano Technician's Guild for 45 years. He was an original founder of the Austin chapter and served as an officer and active member.
As a lifetime member of the American Council of the Blind, Ed pursued legislative issues that were of importance to the blind community. Ed will always be remembered for his unwavering perseverance and his positive attitude in the face of any difficulty .In spite of being blind Ed never let that stand in his way of doing what he desired. He had a special love for his Seeing Eye dog Mickey, who safely guided him here and on trips around the country.
Ed is survived by his wife of 19 years, Nancy Guerra, daughter-in law Cathy Guerra and granddaughter, Sarah Guerra . He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Guerra, and their beloved son Edward A Guerra who succumbed to diabetes in 2012.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar at 32nd St, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Msgr. Bill Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
