

Edward Junior Malett (Red), age 52, beloved husband, transitioned from life to eternal life with Jesus Christ on February 18, 2025. Edward fought a brave and courageous battle against cancer in which he never allowed the cancer to diminish his faith or deter him from loving his friends, and family, uplifting others, and sharing his love and wisdom. He never gave up; his body just gave out.
Edward Junior Malett (Red) was born June 3, 1972, to Linda Faye Malett Porch in Austin Texas. Edward attended public school where he received his diploma.
Edward confessed Christ as his personal savior under Reverend Gaylon Clark Greater Mount Zion Church of Austin, Texas.
Edward was united in Holy matrimony to Patrice Harris on October 29, 2017, in Austin Texas. To this union no children were born. Edward was employed with the Elliot Electric until his health began to fail.
Edward’s greatest gift was his grandchildren, (whom lovingly called him Papa), the love and bond they shared was unmatched. They brought him so much joy and laughter.
Edward loved anything sports related and was the coach of Little League Cougars. He loved those kids, and as usual he left a long lasting impression of many. He was the family comedian. He had the biggest heart.
Edward is preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Costly; great-grandparents, Evelyn and Leslie Malett; and his grandparents, Eugene and America Cavanaugh; and nephew, Eric Justice, Jr.; father-in-law, Roger Harris, Jr.; and mother-in-law, Betty Bolden Bailey.
Edward leaves to cherish his memories wife, Patrice Harris; three stepsons, Tarvaris Baker, Marantz Thompson (Tabitha) Dre Thompson (Julia); and four grandkids, Jaidyn, Azurè, Prince, Xiomara. He also has a grandson that will be due in April of this year. Mother Linda Faye Malett Porch; two sisters, Arlinda Stanton, Wanda Malett( Kelvin); brother, Jeffrey Malett (Keisha); brothers-in-law, Clarence Bailey, (Karen) Shawn Bolder, (Yvonne); sisters-in-law, Lacresha Harris, Kathy Freeman; one aunt, Carolyn Roberts (Lester); uncles, Bobby Malett and James Davis (Morgan); six nieces, two nephews, eight great-nieces and three great-nephews; best friend, Teddy Robinson and his whole Alamo crew.
