

Edwin Milford Goldman of Austin, died Saturday October 1, 2016. Edwin was known as "Don" to many. Don was born June 6, 1928 in Victoria, Texas to Edwin Charles and Pearl Kay Goldman. He attended Texas Military Institute & Lampasas High School and was a 1946 graduate of Austin High School. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 with a BBA degree and was a life member of Phi Gamma Delta. Later, Don entered the USAF flying B29s in the 98th Bomb Wing during the Korean War and was stationed in Yokota AFB Japan.
On June 10, 1952, he married Martha Jane Henkel and was married to her for 50 years prior to her death in 2002. Don's first job was in Austin with Owen-Illinois Glass Company in 1949. Later, while living in Houston, Texas, Don worked for the Chamber of Commerce, was a stockbroker for Bache & Co, and an independent commercial real estate broker. He continued his real estate and stock brokerage career after moving back to Austin in 1971. Upon retirement, he enjoyed such hobbies as painting, ultralight flying and traveling to Big Bend and Switzerland with Martha. Late in life he enjoyed the company & great home-cooked meals with special friends John & Laverne Sharp.
He is survived by his only child, daughter Ann Goldman Lawhorn and son-in-law Greg Lawhorn of Santa Fe, New Mexico; nephews Christopher Howell Goldmann and William Stuart Goldmann both of Austin; and niece, Nancy Goldman Sands Esber of Dallas. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Charles Kay Goldman.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Austin Humane Society as Don was a great lover of animals. There will be a private family memorial service in Houston at a later date.
