Eleanor Ewing Long Simmons, 61, of Austin, died on Friday, October 3, 2008. She was born on May 3, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Thomas Williams Mason Long, Jr., and Margaret Ewing Johnson Long. Eleanor attended the University of Maine, majoring in Latin Studies. She was an avid Longhorn fan and loved all of her family, including her baseball family. Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Bryan Cooper Simmons; beloved sons Bryan Cooper Simmons, Jr. and William Clifton Simmons, II; and beloved daughter Tracy Lauren McCracken. She is also survived by one sister, two brothers, nieces, nephews, and a great-niece. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.
