Elias Moreno was born on July 13, 1939, in Lockhart, Texas to Fortunato and Trinidad Moreno. He moved to Austin at an early age and attended Zavala Elementary School, Fullmore Junior High, Austin High School, and Austin Community College.
He met the love of his life, Elida, and they married on March 17, 1956. They were married for seventy years. Together, they had three daughters; Ann, Lisa, and Susan.
Elias was employed by Austin Independent School District for 37 years. He was the Paint Foreman for the district when he retired at the age of 62.
He absolutely adored his family. He always enjoyed watching his grandkids at their sporting events, music events, and school events.
He and Elida enjoyed traveling during their retirement years. Together, they visited Greece, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Cancun, Las Vegas, and enjoyed many trips to Winstar Casino.
Elias and Elida enjoyed dancing their whole life, from the time they were teenagers to when they were older. They enjoyed many nights hanging out with friends and dancing the night away.
He loved reading and loved history. Many times, we would find him reading a book or watching the History Channel.
He loved music and passed that love of music on to his kids and grandkids. He played the coronet when he was in junior high and later taught himself to play piano. We enjoyed hearing him sit at the piano and play.
He was a man of great faith. A lifelong devoted Catholic, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and passed on his faith to his kids and grandkids. He could often be found in his favorite chair reading his bible.
Out of the many things he loved and enjoyed, he loved his family the most. He loved getting together with his wife, kids, and grandkids to spend time with them. They brought him so much joy! You could see it in his smile and hear it in his wonderful laugh!
Elias is preceded in death by his dad, Fortunato, his mom, Trinidad, his brothers, Abel, Joe, and Roy. He is survived by his wife, Elida, his daughters Ann (Robert), Lisa (Joe) and Susan (Bret), his grandchildren Christopher (Bea), Megan (Jared), Sarah (Anthony), Christian, Trey (Kate), Makenzie, Caleb and Rachel, his great-grandchildren Benson, Paxton, Cooper, Eli, Theo, Lucas and one baby girl on the way.
