Elida "Tita" Rivas went to her heavenly home on the morning of February 9, 2020. She was born in Austin, TX on September 28, 1949 to Esequiel and Elida Aleman.

Elida worked for and retired from the State of Texas Department, an accomplishment she was very proud of and where she acquired many lifetime friends.

She was a beloved and adored mom, grandma and great-grandma, and would do anything and everything for all of her family. She was feisty at times and always spoke her mind, but she did so out of love and from the best place in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all, but the family takes comfort in knowing she has gained her heavenly wings and is reunited with her husband Jimmy, her parents, and her best friend Mary who lovingly called Elida – “Leader”.

Elida is survived by her brothers Buddy (Janie) Aleman, Zeke (Millie) Layo, and Edward Aleman; two daughters, Michelle and Raquel; grandchildren Victoria, Sonny, Matthew, Jacob, Christopher, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Crystal and Michael. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Jimmy Rivas, and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-8:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in the Colonial Chapel of Cook Walden Funeral Home in Austin, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, 78752. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 14, 2020am with burial immediately after at Cook Walden Cemetery in Pflugerville, 14501 I-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.

I was related to Tita by marriage, some people don’t take that to heart, I’m glad Tita did. Tita and Jimmy welcomed me into their home, and their lives. Tita was a strong lady, kind, giving, and funny. You always remember people who made you feel wanted, and made you laugh. I’ll remember Tita. Hugs to your Mom!😊

Michelle and Raquel:
My heartfelt condolences and prayers and thoughts are with you both and your families. She's gone home to be with your dad and now they are your angels in heaven watching out for both of you.
God Bless you both and he will guide and lead you on your paths to meet up with them in heaven.
Love, hugs & kisses.

I have known you all my life. I know you to be a strong, loving, caring person and willing to do all it took to care for your loved ones. I can’t imagine the pain you must have felt without the love of your life. You and Jimmy are now reunited. Rest in eternal paradise.

Dear Great Grandma Elida.....I was both Michael and Crystal's preK teacher and I was in constant admiration of you for all the time you spent getting them to school, doing their homework, making sure they were respectful at school, and doing all the Mommy things they needed. Even when they went on to the upper grades you would still call or text me questions about school and apologize for bothering me....it was never a bother, I will miss those texts.....Go in prayer and with God's Blessing to be with Great Grandpa....who also played a very important role in their lives. Crystal and I chatted yesterday about how Grandpa was probably missing you and it is nice you get to be together again....I know that Crystal and Michael will now benefit from the love of the rest of the family...they are truly blessed to be a part of the Rivas Family...Mrs. Fowler

Often I would visit my grandma which was my Aunts mother, i would tell my grandma of the live bands i would go see in concert. My aunt would get in the conversation and ask me questions about my night and ask did i dance or did they play this song etc. I always tried to tell her to go but she said your crazy. Lol I truly miss talking with the both of them in that living room. RIP Tia i will miss and love you forever!

I pray the family will find peace in knowing Elida is now rejoicing with our heavenly Father. I will truly miss my longtime faithful friend who was the most kind, thoughtful, and loving person to others and who earned her wings long before her homecoming. My prayers are with the family during your time of sorrow.
