Elisha Jackson "Bubba" Powell Jr. went to be with his Lord on April 10, 2012. Bubba was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 3, 1934 to Elisha Jackson Powell Sr. and Earlie Riffe Powell. Bubba was the youngest of five siblings and is survived by his sister Kathryn Stewart of Santa Fe, Texas, his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bubba will be deeply missed by his family, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now with his beloved parents and sisters Ellen Roberts, Helen Yant, Betty Alvord, and Minnie Denahy. To know Bubba was to love him and Bubba loved his family with a passion being most happy when he was with them.
Bubba took pride in working for H.E.B. in their wonderful special work program. The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff and residents of Marbridge Villa in Manchaca where Bubba lived the past several years and where he was happily engaged in the many activities Marbridge offers.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Fitzhugh Cemetery located at 11607 Crumley Ranch Rd, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the memorial established for E. J. "Bubba" Powell, Jr. at Marbridge Foundation, P.O. Box 2250, Manchaca, Texas 78652.
