Born in Detroit, Michigan, to John and Helen McDonell, Beth was the youngest of seven children — raised in a home rich with faith, laughter, and devotion. Those early foundations shaped the remarkable woman she would become. She now rejoins her beloved parents and her brothers, Jim and Dan, in heaven.
Beth’s life was a testament to service, compassion, and unwavering love. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University, where she was a proud founding member of the AXO sorority. Soon after graduation, she answered another call to serve, commissioning into the United States Navy as a Registered Nurse. It was there that she met the love of her life, Naval Aviation Structural Mechanic Dan Andrade. They were married on June 14, 1991, beginning a love story that would span decades — steadfast, joyful, and always hand in hand.
For 34 years, Beth faithfully served as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Nursing was never simply her profession — it was her calling. With skilled hands and a tender heart, she cared for the tiniest and most fragile lives. In moments of fear and uncertainty, families found peace in her steady presence. Countless babies began their stories wrapped in her compassion.
In 2012, Beth was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. She met her illness the same way she met every challenge — with quiet courage, grace, and strength. Through years of treatments and difficult days, she never surrendered her joy for life. Her resilience did not demand attention; it inspired it.
Yet of all her titles, “Mom” and “Mimi” were the ones she treasured most.
Beth embraced motherhood with her whole heart. She lovingly adopted Daniel Andrade Jr. at age 12 and raised three beautiful children — Carolyn, Aaron, and Nathan — each the pride and joy of her life. Her love for them was fierce, equal, and unconditional. She never missed a single recital, game, meet, competition, banquet, or milestone. Whether dance, baseball, football, track, bodybuilding, or celebrations in between, she was always there — cheering loudest, smiling widest, loving hardest.
When Carolyn married Marc Teal and welcomed Wyatt and McKenzie, Beth stepped into her most cherished role: “Mimi.” Her grandchildren were pure delight to her soul. Every hug, every laugh, every moment spent with them was a gift she held close.
Beth loved the beach and lake days with family, music and live concerts. She enjoyed watching Family Feud — fittingly so, as she once appeared on the show with her family in 1989… and they won. She found joy in life’s simple sacred rhythms: mornings that began with a Starbucks in hand, evenings that ended holding Dan’s hand, curled up together after a long day.
She will be remembered for her radiant smile and sweet dimples, her servant’s heart, her fierce devotion, and the quiet strength that carried her through every season. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched — in hospital rooms, in her community, and most profoundly, within her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dan Andrade; her children, Daniel Andrade Jr., Carolyn Teal, Aaron Andrade, and Nathan Andrade; her cherished grandchildren, Wyatt and McKenzie Teal; and her loving siblings, Kathy, Janet, Paul and John.
A visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, located at 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue on February 27, 2026, starting at 11:00 am, with food and fellowship to follow. In honor of Beth’s radiant and loving spirit, we invite you to wear whatever feels most comfortable and meaningful to you. She loved all colors and embraced joy in every shade of life — so please don’t feel limited to traditional black (though if black speaks to you, that is absolutely perfect too!). Blue scrubs were her most cherished uniform and a symbol of the compassionate nurse she was, so touches of blue are especially welcome. Most of all, come as you are — comfortable, authentic, and ready to celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm on February 27, 2026 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
